Andrew is a 2nd year Earth Science and geography student with a particular interest in igneous geology. Although this is his first expedition, Andrew brings a range of transferable skills to the team, mainly in the form of leadership and teamwork skills. He has competed as part of a number of sports teams including football, boxing and American football, and has been given leadership roles within these teams, such as being captain of his football team for 6 years. The experiences he gained from working in an American summer camp also contribute to the team in the form of leadership and organisation, as well as many other useful skills.

 

Andrew is the expedition treasurer which involves keeping track of all the monetary aspects of the expedition and he is also has responsible for creating and maintaining the expedition website. At the early planning stages of the expedition, Andrew helped to write the risk assessment and prospectus, as well as being part of the prospectus editing team.

 

Andrew hopes that attaining a degree in Earth Science will lead to a job that allows him to travel. The experiences gained from this expedition will enhance his chances of getting such a job and also help him plan future expeditions and travels.
